Dr. Delanjathan Devakumar

Dr. Delan Devakumar is an Associate Professor in Child and Adolescent Health in the UCL Institute for Global Health and an Honorary Consultant in Public Health England. He trained in clinical paediatrics, and then worked in humanitarian contexts with Médecins Sans Frontières in Pakistan, South Sudan, and Myanmar. His research focuses on migration, conflict, and violence and he has previously worked in other areas including child nutrition, air pollution, and child marriage. He is a Commissioner and on the steering group of the UCL-Lancet Commission on Migration and Health. He is also the lead editor of the Oxford Textbook of the Global Health of Women, Newborns, Children, and Adolescents. He currently leads research on violence and mental health in Sri Lanka and also works on similar topics in Brazil and Lebanon.
